The Chief Officer of Bhuj municipality in Kutch, Jigar Patel, has been suspended with immediate effect for falling asleep during an event attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. Jigar Patel faced disciplinary action under the Gujarat Civil Service (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1971, by the state's Urban Development and Urban Housing Department, due to gross negligence and lack of dedication to duty. The official stated that the action was taken due to his misconduct and lapse. The Chief Minister distributed property cards to approximately 14,000 earthquake-affected people for the rehabilitation of residential housing during the event. Following the event, the Chief Minister tweeted about the event and praised the leadership and guidance of former Chief Minister Narendra Modi in developing Kutch.
