30th April, Sunday, there was a gas leak incident reported in the Giaspura region of Ludhiana in Punjab, which resulted in the death of 11 individuals and the hospitalization of several others. According to a senior official, 11 individuals lost their lives in the incident, and several others were hospitalized.
Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik informed news agency ANI that the death toll has now reached 11 and it is highly likely that there has been some gas contamination. The possibility of a chemical reaction with methane in manholes is also being investigated and the NDRF is collecting samples to verify the cause of the incident.

Earlier, the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Ludhiana West, Swati Tiwana, had confirmed that it was a gas leak case and the NDRF was present at the location to evacuate individuals and carry out rescue operations. At that time, the death toll was reported to be nine, and 11 people had been hospitalized.
