On Tuesday morning, rival prisoners stabbed to death Sunil alias "Tillu Tajpuriya," the top criminal in Delhi, who was being held at the high-security Tihar Jail. When rival mobster Jitender Maan, alias Gogi, was brutally murdered in a courtroom at the Rohini Court complex in September 2021, the deceased Tajpuriya was the main suspect.
It should be noted that in the previous 15 days, there have been two instances of gang warfare inside Tihar Jail. At the same Tihar prison, inmates on April 14 murdered Prince Tewatia, a "dreaded gangster." The recently notorious carjacking case in southwest Delhi was one of 16 crimes in which the deceased Tewatia had previously been implicated, including murder, attempted murder, and carjacking.
The 33-year-old Tajpuriya was housed in Tihar Jail's high-security ward on the ground floor, according to a senior jail official. The four inmates who attacked him were housed in the same ward but on the first floor. They ripped apart an iron grill that was put on the first level of the ward to create an improvised weapon, which they used to attack Sunil Tillu.
The defendants were identified as Deepak alias Titar (age 31), Yogesh alias Tunda (30), Rajesh (age 42), and Riyaz Khan (age 39). They were all inmates and were associated with the rival Gogi gang. Using numerous bedsheets, they leaped from their ward to the first floor.
Immediately after the incident, Tajpuriya received the necessary medical care in the Central Jail OPD at 6.45 a.m. before sent to the hospital (Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital). According to the authority, the injured inmate passed away while receiving treatment at DDU hospital.A top Delhi Police official reported that the DDU hospital had informed them that two Tihar Jail inmates who were awaiting trial had been admitted and that Sunil alias Tillu, one of them, had been brought in dead. Rohit, another person, is receiving therapy and is safe.
