FIR filed against Shiv Sena (UBT) after he calls Maharashtra govt 'Illegal'

A charge has reportedly been brought against Sanjay Raut, the leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), under Section 505(1)(b) of the IPC, in Nashik, Maharashtra, for allegedly using his statement to incite conflict between the public and the police.

Intent to cause, or which is likely to cause, fear or anxiety to the general public, or to any segment of the general public, whereby any person may be persuaded to commit an offence against the state or against the general welfare, is an offence, according to IPC segment 505(1)(b).

According to officials, a FIR was filed at the Mumbai Naka police station in Nashik after police took suo moto notice of Raut's comments.

In a statement against the state government, Sanjay Raut claimed that the current administration was unlawful and that its directives should not be obeyed. They stated, Further inquiry is in progress.
