Farmers to hold tractor march, causing potential traffic jams at Delhi-Noida border

Before the tractor marches by Samyukta Kisan Morcha, Bharatiya Kisan Union, and other farmers' unions, Noida Traffic Police issued a traffic advisory late on Sunday. All routes from Gautam Buddh Nagar heading towards Delhi will be heavily barred, and there will be stringent vehicle inspections in place, according to the advisory.


Traffic Advisory Guidelines for Delhi

• Prohibition of all kinds of goods vehicle movement on Yamuna Expressway to Noida-Greater Noida Expressway to Delhi and Sirsa to Pari Chowk to Surajpur.
• Recommendation to use Metro services to avoid traffic disruptions.
• Routes for Delhi from Chilla border: Sector 14A flyover – Roundabout Sector 15 – Sandeep Paper Mill Chowk – Jhundpura Chowk.
• Routes for Delhi from DND border: Film city flyover – Sector 18 – Elevated road – Delhi.
• Routes for Yamuna Expressway to Delhi: Jewar toll to Khurja to Jahangirpur.
• Routes for Peripheral Expressway to Delhi: Sirsa or Pari Chowk route to Delhi.
• Routes for NH-91 to Ghaziabad, Dadri to Bulandshahr, and Dadri to Bulandshahr.
• Emergency vehicles to be carefully diverted via safe routes.

 

On Monday, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait stated that a program to remove a 'Tractor chain' has been decided. Tractors will park on the Delhi-bound highway, particularly the divider highway.It was decided to stage a different type of protest so that the government would listen to us and not forget the farmers."

The Samyukta Kisan Morch (SKM) announced last week that it will hold a tractor march on Monday to condemn the death of a 21-year-old farmer near the Punjab-Haryana border.After a meeting in Chandigarh, the SKM announced that farmers will hold tractor marches on highways across the country on February 26 and a Mahapanchayat in Delhi on March 14.

Rakesh Tikait, leader of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), stated that the tractors will be on the highway leading to the national capital and that the event will be one-day in duration.
"We plan to line up tractors from Greater Noida to the Noida side and march along the Yamuna Expressway, moving towards the Chilla border via the Noida Expressway," BKU (Tikait) president Pawan Khatana said.

According to the Times of India, farmers from nearby villages will assemble at the Jewar toll plaza in Greater Noida. They will then proceed in the direction of Noida's Chilla border, according to Khatana.

According to Khatana, farmers will band together to demand the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their crops.BKU Lokshakti plans to protest at the collectorate on February 29 and present a memorandum to the district administration. Protesters will burn effigies of the World Trade Organisation and ministers. SKM and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha forum meetings are scheduled for the following two days. Farmers observed a 'Black Day' to condemn the death of 21-year-old farmer Subhkaran Singh.
