The city's annual Mango festival has returned. The Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation is hosting a three-day festival at the Janakpuri Dilli Haat from July 7 to 9. The festival, according to organisers, will feature 400 distinct mango varieties from orchards across the country. Since the late 1980s, DTTDC has routinely organised the festival, with the exception of 2020, when the physical event had to be cancelled owing to COVID-19.
Mango-based jams, candies, and beverages will also be on sale at the festival's many vendor booths. The Mango Eating Contest for Men will take place on July 8, while the Mango Eating Contest for Women will take place on July 9. There will also be a slogan competition and a mango trivia quiz.According to a DTTDC representative, this year's thrilling event is called "100 hai daam kitna bhi khao aam," and for just Rs 100, attendees can consume as many mangoes as they want. There will be a variety of attractions and games for kids, as well as cultural events, at the festival.
