Under the Union Health Ministry's i-Drone initiative, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) today successfully carried out a trial run of blood bag delivery by drones in New Delhi. The debut preliminary flight conveyed ten units of blood tests from the Government Establishment of Clinical Sciences (GIMS), More noteworthy Noida and Woman Hardinge Clinical School (LHMC), New Delhi. ICMR, LHMC, GIMS, and Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (JIIT), Noida, worked together to carry out the test for the first time in the country.
Dr. Rajiv Bahl, Director General of the ICMR, emphasized the significance of a successful trial run, stating that technological advancements are acting as an accelerator in the process of gradually propelling India toward the developed nation status envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized that ICMR used "i-DRONE" for the first time during the COVID-19 pandemic to deliver vaccines to remote areas.
According to Dr. Bahl, we transported blood and products associated with blood today, which are supposed to be kept at a low temperature. He went on to say that an ambulance was used to send another sample, and if there are no differences between the two methods, the drone will be used all over India. According to the Health Ministry, JIIT is the implementation center for drone sorties, while LHMC and GIMS are included as centers for supplying blood bags and testing the samples.
