The 25th edition of the Bharat Rang Mahotsav (BRM) will feature over 150 performances, workshops, discussions, and master classes in 15 Indian cities beginning February 1, the National School of Drama announced on Saturday.
Touted as the "world's largest theatre festival," 'Bharangam' will provide theatregoers and cultural enthusiasts with a rich tapestry of Indian and global theatre traditions.
The opening play "Humare Ram" starring actor and NSD alumnus Ashutosh Rana will kick off this year's theatre festival at Mumbai's National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA).
This year's edition theme is "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, Vande Bharangam," which promotes global unity among actors and artists. NSD alumnus Pankaj Tripathi has been named the festival's brand ambassador this year.
Tripathi stated that he would use his role as "rangdoot" to spread information about "Bharangam" to smaller cities and the general public.
"For the past twenty-five years, this festival has served as a beacon, shining a light on the diverse and vibrant tapestry of global theatre traditions. The forthcoming edition will not only showcase exceptional creativity within the theatrical realm but also highlight the beauty of collaboration," said Chittaranjan Tripathy, Director of NSD.
The festival will end with a special ceremony in Delhi on February 21.
