Cyclone Mocha expected to make landfall as deep depression over Bay of Bengal

Cyclone Mocha, which is currently brewing over the Bay of Bengal, is expected to make landfall as a deep depression. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha, urging people to take precautionary measures.

According to the latest bulletin issued by the IMD, Cyclone Mocha is likely to intensify into a deep depression over the next 24 hours and will cross the coast between Chennai and Puducherry on the morning of May 13th. The depression is expected to bring heavy rainfall to several parts of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha, which could lead to flooding and landslides in some areas.

The IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea and urged people living in low-lying areas to move to safer places. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has also been put on high alert, and teams have been deployed in the affected states to carry out rescue and relief operations.

The cyclone season in the Bay of Bengal typically lasts from April to December, with the peak season between October and November. Over the years, cyclones in this region have caused significant damage to life and property, making it crucial for people living in coastal areas to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.

It is important for people to stay informed about the latest updates from the IMD and follow the guidelines issued by the authorities. With the right preparation and timely action, we can minimize the impact of natural disasters and ensure the safety of our communities.
