Corruption in Exams causes Mental Toll on Students, Parents: akhilesh yadav

Akhilesh Yadav, the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Samajwadi Party chief, has expressed his views on the recent controversy surrounding the NEET exam. In a tweet on his social media account, Yadav criticised the rigging and paper leak in various exams, including NEET, and called it a "mental tragedy" that affects both students and their parents.

Yadav questioned the government's ability to prevent future scams if they conduct exams like NEET again. He raised concerns about the possibility of corruption and fraud in the re-examination, especially if the government and its systems remain the same. He also highlighted the psychological impact of such incidents on the youth and their parents, emphasising the need for the government to address the crisis from a psychological perspective and ensure that the youth's affairs are free from corruption.

Questions about the National Testing Agency (NTA), which is responsible for conducting the NEET exam, have arisen due to the controversy surrounding the exam. Thousands of students across the country have approached the Supreme Court seeking justice for the NEET results, and protests against the NTA have taken place in several states. The opposition, including Yadav, has targeted the central government over the exam irregularities.

— Akhilesh Yadav (@yadavakhilesh) June 8, 2024

Akhilesh Yadav's tweet comes amidst the ongoing investigation into the NEET paper leak case. The matter has prompted the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT), leading to the arrest of 14 people so far. The NTA has decided to cancel 1563 students' grace marks and conduct a re-examination. On July 8, the Supreme Court will hear the case.

The need for a comprehensive inquiry into the paper leak and the deployment of preventative measures to avoid similar instances in the future is underscored by Yadav's concerns regarding the future integrity of tests such as NEET and the psychological impact on students and parents. The government must address these issues in order to protect young people's futures from corruption and anomalies in the testing system.
