On Friday, Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice D Y Chandrachud emphasized the significance of live-streaming court proceedings to connect with citizens and stated that it is the responsibility of high courts to ensure that the funds allocated by the "highly responsive" Center for this purpose are utilized effectively.CJI Chandrachud has proposed that live-streaming of court proceedings should be a permanent feature of the judicial system. He mentioned that the first instalment of approximately Rs 2,000 crore is anticipated to be provided by the government in June.
During the virtual inauguration of two IT projects of the Delhi High Court - 'Digital Courts for Contested Traffic Challans' and 'Bail Orders Sharing Module' on the e-Prison platform, the CJI remarked that he was informed about the positive impact of live-streaming Supreme Court proceedings. He mentioned that it has allowed citizens across the country to comprehend the gravity of judicial proceedings and the level of effort put into them.
