Chennai-Pune Train Food Makes 90 Passengers Sick: Report

At least 90 passengers on a special package train in India suffered from food poisoning after consuming meals onboard. The train, which was travelling from Chennai to Palitana in Gujarat, made an emergency stop at Pune railway station after passengers complained of vomiting and iarrhea. Medical teams, including railway doctors, private doctors, and NGO staff, attended to the affected passengers.

According to the Central Railway Public Relations Officer, neither railway employees nor IRCTC employees supplied the food. The train arrived at Pune station at 11:27 p.m. and departed at 12:29 a.m. Passengers in coach B-11 experienced symptoms such as vomiting, stomach pain, and loose motion. A total of 99 patients were treated at the station for stomach pain, vomiting, dizziness, and loose motions. After receiving treatment, all passengers were reported to be in normal condition and continued their journey on the same train. Samples of the food were taken for further investigation.
