CGHS patients will now receive cashless care at six AIIMS

With a new initiative, the Union Health Ministry has decided to provide cashless treatment to Central Government Health Service (CGHS) pensioners and beneficiaries at 6 AIIMS: Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Jodhpur, Rishikesh and Raipur. The announcement was made on Saturday, 21th May.

There come lots of problems while paying first and claiming for reimbursement later. It’s a time-consuming process which needs lots of paperwork to file individual claims. To avoid these and make this process easier, Rajesh Bhushan, health secretary said that, “this initiative will allow CGHS beneficiaries to take advantage of the treatments at AIIMS without first making payment.”

But one can take advantage of this only if the person has a valid ID card of a CGHS beneficiary. AIIMS will create a bill and the concerned person should pay it within 30 days. Medicine prescribed by doctors should be collected by beneficiaries from CGHS.

In future, other reputed institutions may sign this agreement.
