Upon receiving information about the collapse, Uttarkashi Superintendent of Police Arpan Yaduvanshi swiftly arrived at the scene, initiating a relief and rescue operation.
Various emergency response teams, including the National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, fire brigade, and personnel from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), the organization responsible for the tunnel construction, are actively involved in the rescue efforts.
The construction of this all-weather tunnel, a part of the Char Dham Road Project, aims to reduce the journey from Uttarkashi to Yamunotri Dham by 26 kilometers once completed.
