The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is expected to shortly issue a tender for the construction of its most expensive project, the Versova-Dahisar Sea Link, a high-speed route connecting north and south Mumbai.
The 22.3-kilometer-long mega road project with four lanes on each side is the second phase of the Mumbai Coastal Road Project (MCRP) and costs around Rs 35,112 crore.
The massive project's blueprint is finished, and the bid document will probably be released in a week, according to sources with knowledge of the process, who spoke to CNN News18.
The intended Dahisar-Mira Road connection road will be joined to the link road at Dahisar, and as a result, Nariman Point, Mumbai's southernmost point, will be connected to Mira Road.
There will be six stages to the Versova-Dahisar Link Road project, including elevated highways, cable-stayed bridges, and tunnels. According to a report by Mid Day, BMC will issue tenders in six stages to ensure smooth execution.
According to reports, the project must be finished within four years after the contractor's recruitment.
According to the information, a 4.5 km long elevated road, bridge, and interchange will be built starting from Versova's Nana Nani Park to Bangur Nagar in Goregaon during the first phase of the project. The construction of this will run about R6,157 crore.
Additionally, a 4.46 km-long bridge to the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road and a 1.66 km-long elevated road from Bangurnagar to Mind Space in Malad would be built at a cost of Rs 5,308 crore each.
Both the 3.90 km long northbound tunnel and the 3.90 km long southbound tunnel would be constructed for Rs 5,904 crore and Rs 6,032 crore, respectively.
Next, a 3.78 km length between Charkop and Gorai with an elevated road, bridge, and interchange would be built at Rs 6,085 crore.
It's expected that the civic organization will issue separate contractors with tenders for these tunnels.
