Arignar Anna Zoological Park gains three new bird species, ten common langurs, and a male grey wolf, while Kanpur receives a male grey wolf, mouse deer, ostriches, iguanas, and reticulated pythons.

Egyptian vultures at Arignar Anna Zoological Park
Through an animal exchange programme, the Arignar Anna Zoological Park (AAZP), located in Vandalur, has acquired three Himalayan griffons, five mottled wood owls, and a pair of Egyptian vultures from the Kanpur Zoological Park in Uttar Pradesh.

On January 28, ten common langurs were also received from Kanpur.
Veterinary Health
According to a statement from Srinivas R. Reddy, Director, AAZP, the zoo's veterinarian examined the animals' health, and they are now being held in temporary cells under quarantine. The press release also stated that they would be moved to the zoo's display area after 21 days.
The AAZP, in exchange, has provided a pair of reticulated pythons, two pairs of , three ostriches, a pair of green iguanas, and a male grey wolf to Kanpur Zoo.
New residents
In AAZP, the three bird species are novel.One of these, the Egyptian eagle, is considered 'endangered' due to its rapidly declining population in India.

Notably, all endangered species in India must be microchipped or tagged, and appropriate textbooks must be kept for each species These rules have been mentioned in the Central Zoo Authority of Indian guidelines.
