5 terrorists arrested by CCB for planning a blast in Bengaluru

Five individuals have been detained in Bengaluru for allegedly engaging in the planning of a bomb blast in the city. They were taken into custody by police from the Central Crime Branch (CCB) on Wednesday, from the capital of Karnataka, on suspicion of involvement in terror-related activities. According to news agency ANI, the individuals are Sayed Suhel, Umar, Janid, Mudasir, and Jahid.

The five, as per CCB officials, intended to carry out a blast in the city. The Bangalore Central Jail, where the five suspects initially came into contact with terrorists and started preparing the explosives. They were all detained in connection with a 2017 murder case, officials stated.

"All five identified as Sayed Suhel, Umar, Janid, Mudasir, and Jahid, were accused in a 2017 murder case and were in Parappana Agrahara Central jail where they came in contact with terrorists. We are further looking into the matter,” the CCB officials told ANI.

B Dayananda, Bengaluru Police Commissioner, said, “CCB has succeeded in tracking down the people who planned to commit acts of vandalism in Bengaluru city. Five accused have been arrested....Seven pistols, many live bullets, a walkie-talkie, and other items were recovered from them. One of the accused who is absconding provided these weapons to those arrested to carry out certain subversive activities.”

They were caught with a sizable batch of firearms and explosives, including pistols, live cartridges, and explosives-making supplies in Bengaluru.

The police further obtained 4 walkie-talkies, 7 country-made pistols, 42 live bullets, 2 daggers, 2 satellite phones, and 4 grenades.
