A 30-year-old woman, an architect was sexually harassed by a man on an app-based bike booked by her in Bengaluru. She immediately jumped off the moving bike after the man groped her and snatched her phone on the pretext of checking the OTP of the ride. The accused has been arrested, police said.
The woman said that she had booked a Rapido bike to Indiranagar, but instead, the man started moving toward Doddaballapur. She added by saying that the rider was riding a different bike than what was shown on the app. The incident was caught on CCTV with the help of which the accused was identified by the police.
The accused has been sent to judicial custody, the police said. Laxmi Prasad, DCP (North East), said, “The accused has been identified as a native of Hyderabad. He has been booked under IPC Sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 366 (Kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman).”
