After the Balasore, Odisha train accident, the chain of train accidents has kept going. People travel by train with fear and on 7 July’s Falaknuma express accident in Telangana has added to their fear. Fire engulfed five to six coaches of Howrah-Secunderabad Falaknuma express between Bommaipali and Pagidipali in Telangana.
As the express was running smoothly on its track, suddenly the S4 coach caught fire and within it the next two coaches caught fire. One of the passengers pulled off the chain. As soon as it stopped, passengers jumped out of the train to save their own lives. This tragedy took place around 11.30 in the morning. The 18 coaches of express 3 coaches, S3, S4 and S5, were completely damaged and the other 2-3 are partially damaged. Railway security force ran for help and successfully detached 11 compartments from damaged coaches.

With almost 54,000 litres of water, South Central Railway controlled the fire. A total of 100 passengers were travelling on the train and none of them sustained any injuries. Rescue operations were done successfully and brought passengers to Secunderabad station by bus as well as using other compartments of the express.
SCR authorities have started a probe into the matter but the first prediction says that the fire was caused due to a short circuit. A detailed inquiry is going on and we hope that there will be a prominent increase in the safety of passengers to prevent such train accidents.
