Over the weekend, Bengaluru experienced the rainy disaster once more. On Sunday, the renowned IT hub in India suffered severe damage from heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and hail, knocking it to the brink of collapse. Some inhabitants of Mahalakshmi Layout 1st block said that they had to walk through waist-deep water after numerous residences were swamped by the rains.
A 23-year-old lady was also killed as a result of the heavy rains after her car became caught in neck-deep water near Bengaluru's KR Circle subway. Later, it was discovered that the deceased woman was Banurekha, a member of the Infosys staff.
The woman, who comes from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, perished while riding in her car with her family when it got stuck on the subway. Fire department personnel were successful in saving the family, but when they arrived to Banurekha it was too late. Witnesses who were there at the scene of the incident claimed that the driver of the vehicle attempted to drive through the water quickly but ended up submerging it.
After the tragedy, newly elected Chief Minister Siddaramaiah made an Rs. 5 lakh settlement to the woman's family and professed sincere grief for the situation.
