Indian government put a stay on the travelling of Wushu team to China for World University Games on Thursday, July 27. This order came after the Chinese government issued stapled visas to three India players from Arunachal Pradesh.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi strongly protested against this as those players going to represent India in a sporting event held in China. This has been stretching the India- China relation. He clearly stated his point, saying, "There should not be any kind of discrimination or different treatment based on domicile to the Indian citizens who hold a valid passport. This is unacceptable and India will strongly protest against it."
But this is not the first time China is doing this. Before this, China issued stapled visas instead of stamped visas to people from Northeastern states.
On Thursday late night, players were about to catch the flight. They passed the security clearance, but then authorities told them to return home. But the Indian government has cleared nothing about the participation of India in the World University Games.
