What is Hemp? and its Medicinal Uses?

Hemp is a versatile plant that can be utilized from its stalk to its seeds and flowers.  

The fibre of the plant is used to make rope, strong fabrics, fibreboard, and paper. 

Hemp from the Cannabis family requires less water, and no pesticides to grow. 

Medicinal Uses of Hemp:-

  • Pain Relief -Useful in treating conditions like arthritis, and multiple sclerosis. 
  • Anxiety and Depression-Used to treat insomnia, reduce anxiety and promote 

relaxation. 

  • Skin Problems-Helps to relieve symptoms of eczema and reduces skin dryness 

and itchiness. 

  • Source of Plant-Based Protein Rich in fatty acids improves heart health by 

reducing cholesterol, and blood pressure. 

 Before using hemp for medicinal purposes, one must seek advice from a medical 

professional. 

 In India, the use of Hemp is legal for industrial purposes and legal to grow if it has a THC 

content less than 0.3%. 

 Uttarakhand govt is the first in India to grant a hemp cultivation license  

Other States- that have legalised Hemp are Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and 

Madhya Pradesh. 

There are still some restrictions to the cultivation and use of hemp in India Its 

important to be aware of regulations to avoid any legal issues
