The Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) has reported five deaths due to COVID-19 in India in the last 24 hours. Additionally, there has been an increase in cases of the JN.1 series variant in the country. -Five deaths due to COVID-19 have been reported in India in the last 24 hours.
-The deceased individuals had underlying health conditions such as chronic liver disease, multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS), sepsis, coronary artery disease (CAD), T2DM, pneumonia, lung injury, and interstitial lung disease.
-The active caseload in the country is 4,440, showing a decrease of 125 since the previous day.
JN.1 Variant Cases
-A total of 511 cases of the JN. One series variant has been reported from 11 states in India.
-Karnataka has reported the highest number of cases with 199, followed by Kerala with 148.
-Other states, such as Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, and Rajasthan, have also reported cases of the JN.1 variant.
