Jamshedpur Steps Up HIV Testing and Awareness Drive 🚨

In East Singhbhum, Jharkhand, health officials have reported that 7,220 people have undergone HIV testing so far this year, while an estimated 3,410 people are living with HIV in the district.

Following a review meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan, officials were directed to strengthen awareness, testing, treatment, care and support services and make them accessible to more people.

But beyond the numbers, there is another important issue: stigma.

Fear of discrimination and misinformation can discourage people from getting tested or seeking treatment. Creating awareness and ensuring timely testing can help people access appropriate medical care and support.

The administration has stressed that the response to HIV must go beyond testing — it should also include prevention, treatment, care, support and reducing stigma.
