Every person is becoming more mindful of the products they use, the foods they eat, and the decisions they make daily. "We are stress living, not living." New diets, trends, and lifestyles are going viral every other day. We have lost sight of who we are in this race and are blindly following others.
Yashika Bansal is one such young entrepreneur, who for all of her 24 years wants to normalise our culinary culture and she is way ahead in her journey than you can imagine.
"Vego" is a brand-new internet store for vegans, and Yashika is the founder of it. Veganism is a lifestyle in which the primary dietary sources are plants rather than animals. It is not a fad diet, but rather a way of living. And via this venture, Yashika is achieving another goal.
One of spreading awareness around animal cruelty in a variety of ways.
Incidentally, starting this online store was not her first start-up idea. Yashika moved to Singapore to do her post-secondary study at Lasalle College of the Arts after completing her education at DPS R.K. Puram. She completed her Visual Arts foundation diploma in 2017 and went on to earn a degree in design communication from Lasalle in 2020.
While studying in Singapore, she applied for many internships as a Visual Designer. And after earning her degree, she proceeded to secure a new position as a designer at the Singapore-based Dexel design firm. All was OK until Yashika had to leave her job and travel to India for personal reasons.
It was a setback but little did she know at the time that life was just starting out for her. Yashika had been born into an entrepreneurial family. It was like entrepreneurship is in her blood. She was able to work as a freelance designer in her father's business after moving to India.
Initially, Yashika wanted to start a Design Agency. But her whole system was stuck on one question. Why? There are thousands of design firms already dominating the market in India. Yashika desired to influence people's lives. Her search for that difference won't be facilitated by a design firm. So the search continued.
After dedicating countless hours to brainstorming and research, she concluded that vegan products are urgently needed in India. It is essential to have a platform that can meet their needs and make veganism simple and accessible for more people because there are so many vegan brands that are emerging and so many consumers are searching for better options.
Yashika’s vision was clear. And now, she started working towards her goal. But building a company from scratch is not easy. Overnight she was not going to learn all the aspects of the business. Yashika started increasing her knowledge by taking different online courses. However, as an entrepreneur, you can’t expect the challenges to ever end.
This young business lady kept learning new skills and building her knowledge and finding solutions by herself. And in just a few months, Vego started operating online through www.vegokynd.com.
The idea is not to create more confusion in society. It is to help people, to make them aware and rather to put an end to any confusion regarding the Vegan lifestyle. It is an E-Marketplace that lets you choose better - a one-stop shop for your everyday necessities when you are following the difficult space of Veganism.
At the moment, it is still at the initial stage. Even though the team is small but their passion and imaginations are larger. Presently, the Vego team consist of an e-commerce executive, and a digital marketing team and they have been also outsourcing other essential jobs. Yashika reveals that the idea of becoming an entrepreneur has always attracted her - Becoming one means that she can bring a new idea to life, and solve a problem.
While sharing her story, she describes her day-to-day schedule. No amount of coffee will ever give you the same energy boost that knowing you'll be working on bringing your idea to life each day will. She is grateful for the chance she has been given, and there have undoubtedly been days when nothing seems to be going right. On those days, it is critical to keep in mind why you started in the first place.
One of the benefits of being a founder, as mentioned by Yashika, is being your boss, but it's also one of the biggest challenges because you are responsible for solving problems on your own and don't have anyone giving you deadlines.
As they say, “We are our choices. Build yourself a great story.”
Behind Vego’s success story there is a fighting spirit that is working hard to bring all people one step closer to Veganism. Through Vego, Yashika has attempted to convey her thought that one should not impose one's beliefs on others but rather educate people about the advantages of the lifestyle and find a solution to the availability problem. This is the reason Vego hasn't advertised the company as a store exclusively for vegans.
Yashika feels lucky that she has her parents to support her dream. Not just Yashika but her family also dreamed of her becoming an entrepreneur. She believes she has learned much more about herself through meeting new people, exchanging ideas, and developing as a team than she ever has at a job, even though she is still a relatively new founder. She does believe in love and believes in marriage.
Yashika is waiting for her not-so-perfect life partner who will value her, motivate her and be supportive of her life choices. Being an independent lady she is not scared of marital life. Yashika encourages people to follow their hearts, take charge of their lives, and never give up on their dreams.
She holds an unpopular viewpoint, which is that striving for too much perfection is a mistake. No matter how hard you try, you can not be always right! Yashika shares that no one can run the entire organisation on their own; we must trust our teammates. And it's okay when we experience disappointments from time to time. We simply need to get up and begin again.
The secret to success is to improve every day.
