Saravanan Suresh is a man with a vision. He was an ambitious student who completed his M-tech from the Vellore Institute of Technology. During his college days, he was exposed to the startup culture and he was in awe of the industrialists he met during inter-college competitions. He was fascinated by their journey from college life to where they are now.
Saravanan was determined to start his own company and create something that could give placements to other students instead of taking placements himself. His father, who is a founder of a startup, was employed at an MNC as a zonal manager. When Saravanan told his father about his plans, his father was initially unsure, as Indian society had predefined rules to follow after college. But, seeing his son's firm determination, he suggested that they start the startup together.
So, his father quit his job at the MNC and they got their company registered by the name of Vector Solutions. They started as a trading firm with minimal funding and rented a 3-room apartment. Despite the initial struggles, they managed to have a profit margin of 7-10%. They wanted to expand into manufacturing but lacked the capital, so they started semi-manufacturing with the help of their clients and team. They would work in manufacturing only on weekends when they would get the place from big industrialists. They hired engineers on a contract basis and worked with them for 2 days to get the product ready, and would vacate the area before Monday morning.
After 6-7 years of hard work, Vector Solutions has over 580 clients and operations in multiple south cities, with a huge turnover. They are now looking to expand in the northern cities. The company, which started with a team of 3 members, now has a team of more than 50. Saravanan and his father consider Vector Solutions as their baby.
Saravanan, who once saw his friends getting jobs and making money, wanted to do something for the many aspirants who wanted to start their startups and needed guidance. So, he wrote a book "The 360 View of Startup Plan," which has key points for aspirants who wanted to start a startup. The book was getting a lot of love and was available in the library of his college. The Tamil Nadu government asked him to convert the book from English to Tamil so it could reach more audiences.
In 10 days, he translated his entire book and was then launched by the Honourable MSME Minister of Tamil Nadu with the support and blessings of the honourable CM of Tamil Nadu. More than 550 industrialists, educationists, college students, and the Vice Chancellor of his university were also present at the event. The book is also available in the library of his college and several other colleges in South India, it is also available for nationwide distribution on major e-commerce websites.
Saravanan has recently started his second company, Vector ITe, which is part of the IT sector. Not only this, but he is also the director of a group of educational institutions in Chennai and is actively working toward its expansion.
Despite the success of Vector Solutions, he advised caution and active learning, mindfulness, and being cautious for success, whether it be in a permanent job or entrepreneurship.
His mother was a source of emotional support to Saravanan and his father during the tough times at Vector Solutions.
Saravanan's journey is a true testament to the fact that with determination, hard work, and the right guidance, anyone can achieve their dreams.
