Florida's Walt Disney World Resort marks first historic Diwali celebrations

For the first time ever, Diwali festivities took place at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Numerous dancers from different regions of the United States united to showcase the vibrant Indian culture through their dance presentations, bringing the festival of lights to an international audience at this well-known American destination.

Jashn Productions hosted the first-ever Youth Celebration of Diwali, with over 400 dancers coming together to commemorate the festival through their dance acts at Disney Springs and Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, as confirmed in a press release.

This festival was from October 26 to October 28, showcasing vibrant costumes and dance performances by artists hailing from various parts of North America.

The event commenced with an official parade, during which dancers delivered a beautifully choreographed 20-minute performance while parading through the streets of Disney Springs, followed by festive VIP Diwali Party in a Disney Theme Park, as described on the Jashn Productions website.

Moreover, At Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, the Dance Fest Showcase showcased 17 dance schools, each offering performances that represented various regions of India, including Punjab, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh. These performances incorporated elements of pop and hip-hop, adding a modern twist to the traditional dance forms.

The event had iconic characters Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, alongside specially-abled children. Jashn Productions purportedly made a generous donation of $10,000 to the N-Lorem Foundation, which is committed to developing and providing personalised experimental medicines to patients with nano-rare conditions without any charge to them.

Jeanie Beri, the visionary behind Jashn Productions, spearheaded The Dance Fest's direction. She expressed, "The thrill of bringing Diwali to Walt Disney World Resort for the very first time was invigorating. We made history by spreading the happiness and enthusiasm of this significant festival among the South Asian dance community. Commemorating the enchantment of Diwali in 'The Most Magical Place on Earth' was indeed a dream realised."

In a press release, California-based ICC Bollywood directors Amit and Hiren stated, "The Showcase was not just a celebration of a cultural tradition but a representation of unity and the power of art to bridge gaps and bring people together."

The Diwali Dance Fest provided a distinctive opportunity for children to showcase their talents on a globally recognized platform, as highlighted in the press release. Over 1,000 guests had the privilege of immersing themselves in the visual and auditory magnificence of Diwali as the renowned Disney park came alive with the sounds of Indian music and the vivid, colourful costumes.
