Basanth Panchami- Indians give importance to the festivals in that Basanth Panchami or Vasant Panchami is also one among them. This festival is celebrated on the arrival of Spring or Vasant Ritu. According to the Hindu calendar in the month of Magha on the fifth day, this festival is celebrated. The Lord Goddesses Saraswathi is known for knowledge, wisdom and creativity is worshipped on this day.

In some parts of India, Basanth Panchami is also known as Saraswathi pooja and on this, the small children under the age group of 5 years are taken to the temples of the divine and do the aksharabhyasam which is a new start for the children to enter their schooling.

In Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka people go to the temple and conduct Aksharabhyasam ceremonies for children to start their education.
On this day people and families join together and celebrate the festival. They do fasting and distribute sweets and food to each other. People also engage in cultural activities by chanting Saraswati mantras. On this day some people also worship Lord Vishnu.
