Asha Parekh spoke about the change that took place over the years from brides wearing Indian traditional dresses to Western bridal gowns.
When the veteran actress was attending the ongoing 53rd international Filmfare festival of India in Goa. During the session, the actress spoke about how she feels about the change that has taken place in society as well as the film industry.
She says how hurtful she feels when she sees women wearing Western gowns at weddings by leaving behind traditional Indian wears like ghagra choli
The actress stated “Everything has changed. The films that are being made are …I do not know, we are so westernised. gowns pehen k wedding pe aa rahi hain ladkiyan. Arre bhaiya, humari ghaghra choli, saariyan aur salwar-kameez hai aap wo pehno na. Why don't you wear those?
She even added by saying nowadays women are getting influenced by the actress and models (to be precise heroines) and following the trend of wearing western dresses even when they are fat.
“They just watch the heroines on the screen. Screen pe dekh ke wo jo kapde pehen rahe us tarah ke kapde hum bhi pehnenge …mote ho, ya jo, hum wahi phnenge. Ye western ho raha hai mujhe dukh hota hai. We have such great culture, dance, and music we could get it all back in pop culture,” further added the veteran actress
Asha Parekh was the highest-paid actress in the Hindi industry with a very successful career in the 1960s and 1970s. the veteran started her career in the acting industry as a child artist. Then she is considered to become one of the most influential people in Hindi cinemas. She was even honored with a Padma Shree by the government of India for her contribution to the Indian cinema industry in 1992. And she is also honored with the DadaSaheb Phalke award in the year 2022.
