Vir Das Becomes First Indian to Host the International Emmy Awards 2024

Vir Das, the stand-up comedian and actor from india, hosted this year's 52nd International Emmy Awards 2024. He made history by being the first Indian to emcee this show. This year's best television programs produced and aired outside the United States were featured in New York City during the ceremony. The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (IATAS) presented this annual award, with this year including nominations across 14 categories, such as Drama Series, Comedy, and Documentary.

For the special day, Das wore a striking ensemble designed by Salooka by Shubhangi Bajpai. The ensemble had a perfect blend of traditional and modern aesthetics. His outfit had a black blazer, an embroidered white kurta, and flared trousers, showing a perfect fusion of Eastern and Western styles.

Vir Das has done an incredible job blending the various aspects of his career which are stand-up comedy, acting, and music. Das is Known for his Netflix specials like Vir Das: For India, which was nominated for an Emmy in 2021 and Landing, which won him an Emmy in the year 2023. Beyond comedy, Das has created and starred in projects like Netflix’s Hasmukh, ABC’s Whiskey Cavalier, and Judd Apatow’s The Bubble. Additionally, he leads India’s comedy-rock band Alien Chutney. He expressed excitement saying, "I am so happy to be hosting the International Emmys. An Indian series, The Night Manager, with Anil Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor in the main role had been placed under the nomination for Best Drama Series, but had been defeated by Les Gouttes de Dieu.
