A senior police official from the Tambaram Police Commissionerate has been transferred and put under compulsory wait following the recent controversy surrounding an AR Rahman concert. Dr. Deepa Sathyan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Law & Order, Pallikaranai, Tambaram Police Commissionerate, has been placed under compulsory wait at the Office of the DGP/HoPF in Chennai until further notice.Another IPS officer, Disha Mittal, DIG/Joint Commissioner of Police, East, Law & Order, Greater Chennai Police, has also been put under a similar compulsory wait.
In addition to the transfers, Adarsh Pachera, Superintendent of Police, Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement Cell, Chennai, has been transferred and posted as SP/DCP East, Tirunelveli City. The Home Department was in charge of issuing the transfers and mandatory wait orders.
The controversy surrounding the AR Rahman concert arose due to allegations of mismanagement, resulting in traffic congestion on the busy East Coast Road. Ticket holders were reportedly denied entry.
