The cancellation of famous stand-up comedian Trevor Noah's shows in Bengaluru due to technical difficulties, according to Executive Chairperson of Biocon Limited Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, is a "blot on Bangalore's tech image." She continued by saying that Manpho Convention Centre, the convention centre where his concert was organised, needed to reflect on a lot of things.
The comedian apologised to his fans for the error and added that ticket holders would receive a full refund. There was a severe traffic delay at the Outer Ring Road region prior to his performance.
Shaw’s post came after Noah cancelled his shows in Bengaluru “because the audience can’t hear the comedians on stage”.
“'Forced To Cancel': Trevor Noah's Bengaluru Shows Junked Over Tech Glitch - what a blot on Bangalore’s tech image. The convention centre has much to introspect,” Shaw wrote in her recent post.
While traffic jams hindered fans from reaching the venue, the venue's broken sound system left them with an unpleasant impression. Trevor Noah briefly expressed that he hoped the sound issue was resolved before exiting the stage.
At the event, Noah reportedly said, “Bad sound guys can’t figure out how to fix this. I won’t be able to perform like this. Sorry for the situation. Everyone will get their money back.”
People who attended the event expressed their frustration on X, with the event's poor execution as well as the challenges they encountered getting to the venue due to the heavy traffic. Trevor Noah is "probably already writing jokes on BLR's traffic," one of the users said.
Asia is the first stop on Trevor Noah's Off The Record Tour, which also includes stops in Dubai and India. Noah is currently performing live stand-up comedy gigs all throughout India. On September 22, 23, and 24, Noah performed at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. He will also perform on September 30 and October 1 at the NSCI Dome in Mumbai.
