Saif Ali Khan's Raavan Beard to be shaved off Digitally For 'Adipurush'

Adipurush's producers received a flood of criticism after posting the initial rushes of the movie on social media. The dispute started when the teaser appeared online and attracted criticism for depicting the characters in various looks. Saif Ali Khan, Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Sunny Singh play the key roles in the Om Raut-directed movie. The makers received criticism for the subpar VFX.

Saif Ali Khan Beard

The Adipurush filmmakers have opted to make some significant alterations to the movie if the most recent rumours are to be believed. A significant shift in Saif Ali Khan's character qualifies as one of the essential alterations. You heard correctly, that's true!

The producers of Adipurush, in which Saif Ali Khan plays the part of Raavan, have reportedly opted to remove Saif Ali Khan's infamous beard.

According to a story in the ETimes, Saif Ali Khan's character's appearance attracted a lot of criticism. As you may know, the beard of Nawab of Pataudi, who plays Raavan in the movie, drew a lot of criticism and prompted inquiries about his place of origin, with some calling it the 'Islamification of a Hindu Scripture-based film'.

While Saif's appearance still needs a lot of attention, the makers are at least attempting to take the first step by shaving off his beard.

Well, this situation is not unique. When Henry Cavill sported a moustache in real life, the Justice League filmmakers earlier adopted a similar strategy. Henry Cavill was unable to shave since he was filming Mission: Impossible - Fallout. However, the creators used VFX to remove the moustache while still maintaining the character.

Prabhas in Adipurush

Adipurush's creators are considering altering the way a number of other characters are presented, which will cost approximately Rs 30 crores to complete. The Prabhas-starring movie was initially scheduled to premiere on January 12, 2023, but due to controversies and edits, the release date has been moved up to June 16 of that year.
