Priyanka and Nick 'Move out' of their LA Mansion worth $20 M, over Mold infestation

Hollywood power couple Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra are forced to ‘move out’ of  their lavish $20 million California mansion due to a nightmarish mold infestation due from water damage.

The couple purchased the 7 bedroom luxury estate, with an indoor basketball court, Chef’s Kitchen, sla, billiards room, full service gym and private movie theatre, in September 2019 but found themselves in a health hazard when their dream home turned "virtually unlivable."

The trouble began around April 2020 when issues with the pool and spa surfaced, including "porous waterproofing" that led to mold contamination, according to a lawsuit filed in May 2023.

A water leak at the barbecue area further damaged a portion of the living space below the deck. The severity of the situation has forced the couple, along with their 2-year-old daughter, Malti Marie, to take up a new residence in an undisclosed location.

Legal proceedings have been set in motion, with the couple's trustee filing a lawsuit against the builder. Lawyer Fred Fenster, representing the trustee, revealed to Page Six in an exclusive interview that legal proceedings have faced delays because all parties are counter-suing each other to assign blame. He explained,

"The trustee filed the lawsuit against the builder, who in turn filed a cross-complaint against subcontractors. The subcontractors have also initiated lawsuits against their own contributors,” he said.

Fenster added, "Everyone involved in the construction process is being drawn in, and it will be the builder's responsibility to determine and demonstrate who is accountable for the defects."

The lawsuit asserts that the property's condition is a substantial failure of consideration, warranting the rescission of the purchase and sale. They are also seeking compensation for the inconvenience and loss of use of the property.

As per the complaint,  Chopra and Jonas are pursuing "consequential damages" from the sellers, which include repair costs ranging between $1.5 million and $2.5 million (approximately Rs 13 to 20 crores).

Construction is ongoing, and an end date for the repairs is yet to be determined. Although the legal battle might extend until 2025, the couple is free to move back into their residence at their discretion. Page Six reported that the property is currently unoccupied and not available for rent.

In an exclusive statement to Page Six, a source close to the couple expressed their disappointment with the building errors, stating, "The house is currently under repair, and they expect it to be in perfect condition shortly." Despite the setback, the celebrity duo remains resilient, looking forward to returning to their dream home once the extensive repairs are complete.
