US space agency NASA has reportedly selected three songs from the band for their upcoming lunar mission. Currently, most of the band's seven members, including singer-rapper RM, are fulfilling their mandatory military enlistment.
Why did NASA select three BTS songs?
BTS members rank among the richest shareholders in the entertainment industry. Nasa is getting ready for its next moon mission to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11. As per reports, NASA revealed in 2019 their ambitious plan to land humans on the moon by 2024. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, NASA invited internet users to contribute song suggestions for their "NASA Moon Tunes" playlist, and three songs by BTS were included. The playlist now features two BTS tracks, namely "Mikrokosmos" and RM's "Moonchild".
As a part of this celebration, they have created a special playlist called "Moon Tunes" for their upcoming voyage.
This momentous choice brings forth several remarkable achievements. It is noteworthy that BTS is the first K-Pop group to appear on NASA’s official space soundtrack, showcasing their unparalleled worldwide allure and unwavering fan following. Moreover, RM's exceptional talent solidifies his position as the foremost K-Pop soloist whose melodious masterpiece reverberates across vast cosmic expanses.
