Naatu Naatu from RRR and Gujrati Movie The Chellow Show enters in Oscar list

The 95th Academy Awards shortlist been unveiled, including the song "Naatu Naatu" from the historical action blockbuster "RRR."

 

The 95th Academy Awards shortlist been set, and it includes "Chhello Show," India's official entry for the 2017 Oscars, "All That Breathes," "The Elephant Whisperers," and "Naatu Naatu," the theme song from the historical action film "RRR."

 

The shortlists for 10 categories—documentary feature film, featurette short film, international feature film, makeup, and hairstyling, music (original score), music (original song), animated short film, live action short film, sound, and visual effects—were revealed by the organization that oversees the awards.

"Chhello Show," a Gujarati-language coming-of-age tale about a young boy's love affair with cinema in a village in Saurashtra, is directed by Pan Nalin and is named "Last Film Show" in the English-speaking world.

 

The film, which was produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Dheer Momaya, is on the list of nominated global feature films.



 

The "Chhello Show" crew expressed their appreciation and elation at the Academy's appreciation of their moving tribute to the moving image.

 

We had a gut feeling that the movie was poised for something magnificent ever since the Film Federation of India had chosen it as India's official entry for the 95th Academy Awards.

 

We would like to express our gratitude to the FFI, the millions of viewers and enthusiasts of "Chhello Show," as well as our worldwide distributors, for giving the movie a much-needed boost. In a joint statement, Kapur, Momaya, and Nalin remarked that this was a historic moment for India and that they hoped to bring the Oscar home soon.


 

The "Chhello Show" movie will compete against 14 other movies, including "Argentina, 1985" (Argentina), "Decision to Leave" (South Korea), "All Quiet on the Western Front" (Germany), "Close" (Belgium), and "The Blue Caftan," according to the official website of the Academy. (Morocco).

The well-known Telugu song "Naatu Naatu" from SS Rajamouli's landmark film "RRR" has received three important foreign honors. The pan-Indian movie centers on two real-life Indian rebels from the 1920s: Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR). It tells a fictitious pre-independence tale about them.


 

In addition to "Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)" from "Avatar: The Way of Water," "Lift Me Up" from "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," "Ciao Papa" from "Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio," "Hold My Hand" from "Top Gun: Maverick," and "Carolina" from "Where the Crawdads Sing," "Naatu Naatu" will compete

 

The song, which was written by Kala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj and was composed by MM Keeravaani, had previously been considered for a Critics' Choice Award and a Golden Globe.

 

The well-known Hindi film "All That Breathes," which was made with global cooperation, is competing for a slot in the top five in the best documentary feature category.


 

The film, which is set in Delhi, centers on two brothers named Mohammad Saud and Nadeem Shehzad who have dedicated their lives to saving and helping injured birds, particularly black kites.

 

"All That Breathes" previously took up the Golden Eye award for best documentary at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival and the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize: Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival, a festival event that supports independent cinema and artists.


 

All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, "Bad Axe," "Children of the Mist," "Descendant," "Fire of Love," "Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, a Journey, a Song," "Hidden Letters," "A House Made of Splinters," "The Janes," "Last Flight Home," "Moonage Daydream," "Navalny," "Retrograde," and "The Territory" are among the additional 14 shortlisted

 

In the documentary "The Elephant Whisperers" by Kartiki Gonsalves, two neglected elephants and their keepers form an unbreakable friendship. It is produced by "Period. End of Sentence" star Guneet Monga, an Oscar winner.


 

The Tamil title will have to compete with four other teams in order to reach the final five "Angola Do You Hear Us? ", "The Flagmakers," "Nuisance Bear," "Shut Up and Paint," "Anastasia," "Voices from a Plantation Prison," "together with nine additional short movies in the section.

 

Except for the exception of the foreign feature film category, members of the relevant branch choose each shortlist.

 

The Academy said that members from all branches are invited to participate in the second round of voting and must fulfill a viewing threshold in order to cast a ballot in the relevant category.


 

The 95th Academy Awards ceremony will be placed at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles on March 12, and the nominees will be revealed on January 24.
