Kartik Aaryan was in the midst of filming 'Dostana 2' produced by Karan Johar, alongside Janhvi Kapoor and Laksh Lalwani. However, just as fans were eagerly anticipating news on the film's release date, Dharma Productions, backed by KJo, revealed that they would be rethinking the cast. It was later revealed that Kartik and Karan had a rumoured falling out, which resulted in the film being postponed indefinitely.
Kartik's birthday, which falls on November 22, was the perfect occasion for Dharma Productions, backed by KJo, to announce a new film featuring the actor. This announcement put an end to all the speculations about a feud between them, confirming that everything is now back on track.
The Instagram caption stated, "Lights, camera and…surprise!🎬 We are thrilled to announce a new story brewing that has found a home with Dharma Productions & Balaji Telefilms. Starring Kartik Aaryan and directed by Sandeep Modi, this yet-to-be-titled film will be released on 15th August 2025. Stay tuned!"
Kartik also hopped on X (formerly Twitter) to spread the news.

Last year, Kartik teamed up with Ekta for the Disney+ Hotstar thriller Freddy. Although he hasn't worked with Sandeep Modi before, he did collaborate with Ram Madhvani, a close associate of the filmmaker, on Netflix India's newsroom thriller Dhamaka last year. Additionally, Kartik will be appearing in Chandu Champion.
