Salman Khan's 58th birthday bash on December 27 was the talk of B-town with celebrities like Bobby Deol, Helen, Neha Dhupia with Husband Angad Bedi gracef the party. Director-Producer Karan Johar showered his warm wishes on Salman and also teased an upcoming collaboration with the superstar after 25 years.
KJo, sharing a nostalgic still from the film with a delightful but a lengthy birthday note (Now deleted), fondly recalled Salman's spontaneous decision to join 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' without hearing the entire narration and no clue about his character’s story. KJo expressed gratitude for finding his perfect Aman in Salman for the film.
KJo penned a heartfelt letter, walking down a memory lane, “25 years ago I was at a party lost and confused. A massive movie star came up to me and asked me why I was standing by a corner... I told him I had been to several actors for a part but was politely rejected.’
He reminisced about how he narrated the story to Salman, adding ‘The superstars sister is close to me so he graciously said she had spoken highly of my script and that I should meet him the next day to narrate the film to him...In my wildest dreams I never imagined I would even get the opportunity of a narration ...I went with a prayer in my heart and a deep desire for a miracle and narrated the first of the film like my life depended on it...(sic).”
He mentioned how Salman without listening about his character agreed to get onboard to KKHH, Karan’s directorial Debut Film. He added, “He (Salman) looked at me at the interval point ( by then I was looking like I was at the Sahara desert and water could keep me alive ) kindly offered me water and said “ I’’m on!!! “ I was perplexed and said but “ you are in the second half” you haven’t heard it?
KJo thanked Salman’s Sister Alvira, which made Salman do the film, Adding What Salman Told him “ I love your father and my sister will kill me if I don’t do this movie” and that’s how Salman Khan was in KKHH.
“I'm thankful to Alvira and my father's support, ensuring I had the perfect Aman and Salman Khan in my debut film,” Karan said
He concluded by writing, “Gestures and stories like this just don’t happen today! Happy birthday Salman ! So much love and respect for you always. Also 25 years later we will finally have a story to tell again. not saying any more than that happy happy birthday,”
About Salman’s role in KKHH
In the 1998 romantic drama "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai," Salman Khan had an extended cameo as Aman, the fiancé of Kajol's character, Anjali. Aman, as being the Green Flag according to the ‘GenZ netizens’, graciously lets go of Anjali in the end by selflessly sacrificing his love for Anjali (played by Kajol), allowing her to reunite with her unrequited love. Shah Rukh Khan takes on the role of Rahul Khanna, Anjali's best friend and childhood crush, while Rani Mukerji appears as Rahul's girlfriend, whom he eventually marries.
About the Collaborative Project
In a 25-year reunion, Salman Khan and Karan Johar join forces for a new film named 'The Bull.' Headlined by Salman, directed by Vishnuvardhan, and produced by Johar's Dharma Productions, the movie draws inspiration from a true story. Salman takes on the role of a paramilitary officer, unravelling the tale of the 1988 terror attacks in Malé, Maldives. Filming kicks off in February 2024, with the movie set to be Salman's Eid 2025 treat for fans. The details of Johar's involvement, whether as a director or solely a producer, are yet to be disclosed.
