Kadak Singh is a Hindi language film released in 2023. The film stars Pankaj Tripathi in the lead, supported by Sanjana Sanghi, and Jaya Ahsan. The plot of the film predominantly revolves around AK Srivastava (Pankaj Tripathi), an officer in the Department of Financial Crimes (DFC), who suffers from selective amnesia following a botched suicide attempt. However, when he hears various versions of the events leading up to his attempted suicide, he begins to put together what might have happened and unravel the financial scam case he was working on at the time. The film was released on the OTT platform Zee5 and was received well by critics.
Pankaj Tripathi's eccentricities elevate this realistic and engaging thriller
The film "Kadak Singh," directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, tries to create an intricate narrative around the life of Srivastava (Pankaj Tripathi), a committed official at DCF whose memory loss becomes the primary enigma. Many points of view are explored throughout the movie, such as that of his boss Mr. Tyagi, girlfriend Naina, faithful assistant Arjun, and daughter Sakshi. Despite a great premise, the execution falls flat. The narrative is packed, and the pacing is languid, making it difficult to identify the thriller genre until late in the film. The strange tranquility of the background score ruins the anxious mood even more.
The film picks up momentum in the final half-hour, wrapping up loose ends and uncovering the perpetrators of the financial scam and colleague's suicide. But by then, a few viewers might have guessed at important story points.

Pankaj Tripathi portrays Srivastava's conflicting sides with finesse and complexity in a nuanced performance. Parvathy Thiruvothu shines in her subtle role as the nurse who connects the stories. Jaya Ashan shines in her limited screen time, while Sanjana Sanghi's performance, while admirable in some scenes, occasionally lacks vigor. Even with its shortcomings, "Kadak Singh" is worth seeing once because of the well-rehearsed performances and the way its complex narrative ultimately comes together.
