The Scottish actor who played Hagrid in the iconic Harry Potter series passed away on October 14th and the cause of his death has been revealed in the autopsy a week later post the actor's passing. Robbie Coltrane passed away at the age of 72 following multiple organ failures as per multiple reports in the UK. The death certificate of the ‘Harry Potter star has also noted that he had been suffering from sepsis, lower respiratory tract infection, and heart block.
Hagrid aka Robbie Coltrane had also been diagnosed with obesity and Type 2 diabetes. Coltrane featured in one of the most popular films including the most loved by the audiences, the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise and ‘James Bond’. The actor passed away at the age of 72, at a hospital in his native land Scotland. The actor was suffering from sepsis, lower respiratory tract infection, and heart blockage according to his death certificate quoted by the news website, The Independent.
Robbie Coltrane, whose real name was Anthony Robert McMillan, was best known for essaying his role as a half-giant and gentle Rubeus Hagrid- the beloved keeper of the keys at Hogwarts in the fantastic world of Harry Potter. He also appeared as Valentin Zukovsky, a Russian crime boss in the James Bond thrillers Golden Eye and The World Is Not Enough.
The news of the actor’s demise led to tributes from the world of cinema, including the Harry Potter star cast Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton, and James Bond producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. The entire social media was flooded with posts paying tribute to the legendary actor who truly made the childhood of Harry Potter fans a memorable one.
Harry Potter author J.K Rowling took to Twitter, describing Coltrane as an “incredible talent.” She wrote, “I'll never know anyone remotely like Robbie again. He was an incredible talent, a complete one-off, and I was beyond fortunate to know him, work with him and laugh my head off with him. I send my love and deepest condolences to his family, above all his children (sic)."
Daniel Radcliffe who had been very close to Robbie since the beginning of the world of Harry Potter on big screens said," Robbie was one of the funniest people I’ve met and used to keep us laughing constantly as kids on the set, I’ve especially fond memories of him keeping our spirits up on ‘Prisoner of Azkaban,’ when we were all hiding from the torrential rain for hours in Hagrid’s hut and he was telling stories and cracking jokes to keep morale up. I feel incredibly lucky that I got to meet and work with him and very sad that he’s passed. He was an incredible actor and a lovely man.” - Daniel (sic)."
