Bollywood’s King Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, made it to the top spot on the UK list of 'Top 50 Asian Celebrities in the World.' presented in London on December 13.
According to Eastern Eye entertainment editor Asjad Nazir, who curated the list, "By the time 2023 ends, King Khan will become the first leading man from the modern era to have three huge Bollywood blockbuster hits in a calendar year."
Nazir emphasized the transformative effect of the actor, drawing substantial audiences back to cinema halls with global blockbusters, revitalizing a declining movie industry. The history-making superstar's brilliance outshone others, reminding global audiences of the captivating potential of escapist Bollywood cinema.
2023 has been a year for Shah Rukh Khan, delivering massive blockbuster hits Pathaan and Jawaan. His upcoming film ‘Dunki’ , A rajkumar Hirani directorial which is soon to be released on 21 st December is also anticipated to be a hit, marking three hits in a row in a year.
The 58-year-old actor, Khan faced stiff competition to secure his position on the annual list published by UK weekly Eastern Eye on Friday.
In the second position is acclaimed actor Alia Bhatt, who showed her phenomenal acting in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Film, Gangubai along with making debut in Hollywood.
The third spot is secured by Priyanka Chopra Jonas for her groundbreaking international projects, including the series "Citadel" and the Hollywood film "Love Again” along with humanitarian efforts, and a global presence on red carpets.
Diljit Dosanjh the Punjabi superstar secured fourth position, he made remarkable contributions as both an actor and singer in the cinema, had many significant international music collaborations, and a groundbreaking performance at the prestigious Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California.
In fifth place, Charli XCX from the UK emerged as the preeminent international singing star of South Asian heritage. Her achievements in 2023 ranged from releasing super singles to delivering blockbuster live performances on a global scale.
Claiming the sixth spot, Ranbir Kapoor received recognition for delivering the most impactful movie performance of the year with the blockbuster hit "Animal."
Singer Shreya Ghoshal secured the seventh position, marking another award-winning year filled with magnificent songs in multiple languages, global arena shows, and her role as a judge on the popular singing reality series "Indian Idol" (season 14).
Eighth-placed Vijay emerged as the most prominent South Indian cinema star of 2023, boasting two hits ("Leo" and "Varisu") and inspiring countless fans with his humility.
Claiming the ninth spot, Pakistani actor Wahaj Ali earned recognition for his consistent and compelling performances throughout the year, notably in the record-breaking serial "Tere Bin."
Meanwhile, Canadian actor Iman Vellani secured the tenth position for her groundbreaking role as the lead in the Hollywood blockbuster "The Marvels."
The list featured a diverse range of ages, with 81-year-old Amitabh Bachchan as the oldest and 20-year-old Sumbul Touqeer as the youngest, expressing pride in being included among distinguished international names.
