BLACKPINK's Lisa to Make Acting Debut in HBO's "The White Lotus" S3 as Lalisa Manobal

BLACKPINK member Lisa to debut on Screen!! She's set to join the cast of HBO's The White Lotus for its upcoming Season 3, where she'll be credited under her given name, Lalisa Manobal. Her management company, LLOUD, recently launched by the star herself, confirmed the announcement in a Facebook post on Monday. 

Filming for the third season of The White Lotus is set to commence in February across various locations in Thailand, including Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok. While specific plot details are under wraps, it's known that the season will introduce a new group of guests at a White Lotus resort. 

Like all other castings for the third season, her role remains undisclosed, leaving room for speculation about the potential characters she could portray.

According to a November report from Deadline, the new season will include "a patriarch, a corporate executive, an actress, a couple of mothers, a misfit, and a yogi" among others.

The Fresh Cast

The upcoming White Lotus series is anticipated to centre around a fresh group of guests who are staying at a resort property. Manobal's casting announcement aligns with the reveal of two other actors: Scott Glenn and Julian Kostov.

The ensemble cast features Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, Tayme Thapthimthong, Christian Friedel, Julian Kostov, Morgana O'Reilly, Lek Patravadi, Shalini Peiris, Carrie Coon, Scott Glenn, Francesca Corney, Nicholas Duvernay, Arnas Fedaravicius, Natasha Rothwell, Walton Goggins, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Aimee Lou Wood, Sarah Catherine Hook, and Sam Nivola.

Lisa will mark her acting debut with her role in The White Lotus, making her the third BLACKPINK member to enter into acting. Prior to Lisa, Jisoo took on her first leading role in the JTBC drama "Snowdrop" in 2021, while Jennie, credited as Jennie Ruby Jane, played a supporting role in HBO's music drama "The Idol,” alongside Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd (Abel Makkonen Tesfaye).

Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa are members of BLACKPINK, a hugely popular music group. They debuted in August 2016 with 'Square One' under YG Entertainment. Their song "Boombayah" topped the Billboard World Digital Songs chart, making it the most-viewed debut music video by a Korean act.

"Ddu-Du Ddu Du'' propelled BLACKPINK to new heights, peaking at number 55 on the Billboard Hot 100. This achievement made them the highest-charting female K-Pop group on the prestigious chart. Additionally, they became the first K-Pop girl group to both enter and top the Billboard Emerging Artists chart. Following their success, BLACKPINK collaborated with renowned artists including Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga, Cardi B, and Selena Gomez.

In December, BLACKPINK members Jennie, Jisoo, and Rosé parted ways with YG Entertainment for individual projects, while simultaneously extending their contract with the management group to continue their group activities.

"Money" notably became the longest-charting song by a female K-Pop artist on the US Billboard 100 and UK Hits Chart, also broke a Guinness World Record by reaching 1 billion Spotify streams, marking the first K-pop solo track to achieve this milestone.

In 2023, Lisa set three Guinness World Records, including the most Instagram followers for a K-pop singer, and she also became the first solo K-pop artist to win at both the MTV Video Music Awards and the MTV Europe Music Awards.

"The White Lotus," created by Mike White and executive produced by David Bernad and Mark Kamine, gained immediate popularity upon its 2021 premiere on HBO. 

Debuting in 2021, "The White Lotus" is a drama series unfolding the events occurring over a week at the opulent White Lotus hotel. 

The first season, situated in Hawaii, garnered 20 Emmy nominations and 10 wins, including Best Limited or Anthology Series. Its second season, based in Sicily and aired in December 2022, received 23 Emmy nominations, including a nod for Best Drama Series, and secured five wins.
