Union Minister for Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan paid a visit to the 166-year-old Sir J.J. School of Art today. A foundation stone for the new institution was also laid at the time, and he proclaimed Sir JJ School of Art a de novo deemed institution. Rahul Narvekar, the speaker of the Maharashtra assembly, and Devendra Fadnavis, the state's deputy chief minister, were also present, as was Chandrakant Dada Patil, the state's minister of higher and technical education, as well as Shri Deepak Kesarkar, the state's minister of education and the Marathi language.
Speaking at the occasion, Shri Pradhan stated that J.J. School was more than simply an academic institution; it was also a place where new ideas were tested. According to him, NEP2020 will be implemented here, and the area will grow to be a premier location on the planet. A study course for the Vishwakarma Yojana for individuals receiving training under the programme has also been created, he added, and he has asked JJ School of Arts to illustrate the new textbooks.
In his remarks at the occasion, Shri Pradhan noted that the JJ School of Art is one example of the history of social obligations that has been part of the Indian system for millennia. He emphasised that Mumbai is extremely popular among Indians due to its sophistication, organised way of doing things, culture, and the "Mumbai Pattern" that has been captured by the JJ School of Art and will be continued for generations to come.
On the occasion, Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, stated that over the course of the previous 150 years, the J. J. School of Art has developed tremendously skilled human resources in the fields of fine art, applied art, and architecture. Even Mumbai's prominent buildings were a result of the school's contributions. A new wing of the institute, he added, would introduce some fresh work to the public.
Institutions dedicated to new approaches in research and teaching in distinct and developing fields of knowledge are given the de novo category award. With the Centre's clearance in place, the "Sir JJ School of Art, Architecture, and Design" would become the sole government-run deemed-to-be university in Maharashtra and one of the few institutions with the "de novo" label throughout the country.
