Four Distinguished Categories
The Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar will stand as one of the highest honours in India for individuals and teams who have made significant breakthroughs in research, innovation, or discovery. These awards will be granted in four distinct categories:
- Vigyan Ratna (VR): Recognizing lifetime achievements and contributions in any field of science and technology.
- Vigyan Shri (VS): Honoring distinguished contributions in any realm of science and technology.
- Vigyan Yuva-Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar (VY-SSB): Encouraging young scientists under the age of 45 who have made exceptional contributions to science and technology.
- Vigyan Team (VT): Awarded to teams of three or more scientists, researchers, or innovators who have collectively made outstanding contributions in any field of science and technology.

Nominations for these coveted awards will be open annually from January 14th to February 28th, coinciding with National Science Day. The winners will be announced on May 11th, celebrated as National Technology Day, with the award ceremony taking place on August 23rd, recognized as National Space Day.
