On October 5th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi threw open the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh to the public and declared that the facility will be known as the "Green Hospital."
With 750 beds, including 64 ICU beds, 18 specialty, and 17 super-specialty departments, 18 modular operating rooms, and a construction budget of more than Rs 1,470 crore, AIIMS, Bilaspur is a cutting-edge medical facility. According to a release from the Health Ministry, AIIMS-Bilaspur, which is located on 247 acres, is outfitted with 24-hour emergency and dialysis facilities, as well as diagnostic tools including ultrasonography, CT scan, and MRI. It also has a 30-bed AYUSH block.
The administration, according to PM Modi, aims to make life easier for the middle class and the impoverished and to reduce their medical costs. To provide medical care in the remote tribal regions of Himachal Pradesh, the hospital has also established a Center for Digital Health. Additionally, the hospital will offer specialized medical treatments through health camps in the Himalayan provinces of Kaza, Saluni, and Keylong. Each year, the hospital will accept 60 students for nursing courses and 100 students for the MBBS program. In October 2017, PM Modi laid the cornerstone for the newly constructed hospital, which was created as part of the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana of the Center.
