Tata to inject 2 Billion USD in Neu

Tata Group is considering a fresh $2 billion injection of capital in Tata Neu, its super app as reported by Bloomberg on March 23. The investment could be through Tata Group’s digital arm, Tata Digital. The Tata Neu app was launched in April last year but has experienced muted growth. The fresh capital is planned to reduce technical glitches plaguing the app since its launch. The funds will also help improve the app's digital offerings and meet the spending requirements of the app. 

The Tata Neu is Tata’s all-in-one app like China’s Alipay and WeChat. The app offers a range of services from ordering groceries online to reserving aeroplane tickets. The app aims to offer access to Tata’s brands like Tata Cliq, Croma, AirAsia, Tanishq, Titan and others from a single point of access. The investment is crucial for Tata Digital as competition for a super-app is high from e-commerce majors Amazon, and Flipkart, as well as India’s Reliance Industries and Adani Group, launching their super apps.
