An agreement for Tata Group to purchase the Indian supplier facility of Apple is nearly complete. After it closes, a local company will start assembling iPhones for the first time. By August, it might be possible to buy the factory.
According to sources, the Tata Group is apparently interested in purchasing a Wistron Corporation factory in Karnataka. The factory has a market value of roughly $600 million, over 10,000 people are employed there, and the iPhone 14 model is now produced there.
Wistron Corp. has committed to supplying $1.8 billion worth of iPhones by the end of the financial year that ends in March 2024 and increasing employment at the manufacturing plant by three times. After purchasing the factory, Tata Group would adhere to these commitments, the article said. The production of iPhones by the Taiwanese company in India will come to an end with the closure of the Wistron Corp. factory.
The Indian government has launched a number of schemes in recent years to promote manufacturing in the nation.
