To improve capacity and guarantee seamless connectivity for travelers during high travel seasons, SpiceJet has signed lease agreements for 10 aircraft before the summer schedule, the company announced in a press release on March 14.
"This action demonstrates SpiceJet's dedication to offering its customers smooth connection and improved services throughout the busiest travel times. According to the statement, "the airline will be able to accommodate the increasing demand for air travel, especially during the busy summer months, with the additional aircraft."
Improving Fleet Capabilities
SpiceJet stated on March 7 that a ₹413 crore dispute with Echelon Ireland Madison One had been successfully resolved, leading to ₹398 crore in savings and the purchase of two airframes, according to the statement.
In addition, SpiceJet secured the transfer of an airframe and an engine to the airline after resolving a ₹93 crore dispute with aircraft leasing company Cross Ocean Partners.
According to the announcement, SpiceJet and Celestial Aviation, a division of AerCap, have also mutually concluded their ₹250 crore dispute, saving SpiceJet ₹235 crore.
Two Senior Executives from SpiceJet Step Down
SpiceJet's two senior executives have quit, months after an aviation company named after their spouses was discovered, sources told Mint, giving a new blow to the ailing low-cost carrier.
Arun Kashyap, the airline's chief operating officer, and Shilpa Bhatia, its chief commercial officer, have resigned.
Social media was a flurry in October 2023 around the announcement of Sirius India Airlines, a new airline founded by Kashyap and Bhatia's spouses.
A spokesperson from SpiceJet stated, "Several members of the commercial team, including the chief commercial officer, have departed the firm with immediate effect as part of SpiceJet's strategic reorganization. The company's load factor and revenue are still growing significantly. SpiceJet's current fundraising effort has expedited the settlement of any outstanding issues. The firm intends to expand quickly, boost capacity, and maintain its significant influence in the Indian aviation industry."
