The Hurun India Rich List 2024 has unveiled its latest rankings, revealing significant shifts in the wealth landscape of India's elite. In a surprising turn of events, Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani has overtaken Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, to become the richest Indian. This year's list also highlights the emergence of new billionaires, the rise of self-made women, and the youngest billionaires in India.
Gautam Adani Overtakes Mukesh Ambani
Gautam Adani has secured the top spot on the Hurun India Rich List 2024 with a staggering net worth of ₹11.61 lakh crore, surpassing Mukesh Ambani, whose net worth stands at ₹10.14 lakh crore. This marks a significant comeback for Adani, whose wealth had declined by 57% to ₹4.74 lakh crore in 2023 following allegations by US-based short seller Hindenburg Research. Despite the sharp decline last year, Adani’s wealth has rebounded impressively, dethroning Ambani, who had maintained his position as the richest Indian for several years.
