BharatPe Co-Founder Ashneer Grover is back in the game with a new venture. He took to Twitter to announce the launch of ‘CrickPe’, a fantasy cricket platform on March 23. The fantasy sports app has been strategically launched days before the start of IPL 2023. While the fantasy gaming space is crowded by gaming majors such as Dream11, Mobile Premiere League (MPL), My11Circle, Fantasy Akhada, ‘CrickPe’ adds a twist with a differentiating feature allowing users to reward cricketers for their performance.
The real money app will allow users above the age of 18 to participate in paid contests and earn cash prizes on the success of their virtual teams in real life. Users will also be able to create private contests among friends. The platform has announced that it will levy 10% of the fees for both public and private contests from the total pool of the contests. The app is available on the Appstore and Playstore.
Ashneer Grover with the fantasy gaming venture has dived into a promising sector. The fantasy-gaming industry has been on steady growth in India. Annual revenue in the gaming sector has increased from $2 billion in FY21 to $2.6 billion in FY22. Growth in the sector is projected to expand at an estimated annual growth rate of 27% to reach $8.6 billion in FY27 as reported by gaming venture fund Lumikai. In the current market scenario, Dream11 dominates the fantasy sports segment with a 90% market share.
